Ongoing meetings with municipalities and private landowners

Building on the fieldwork carried out in 2023 to identify and delineate forest stands targeted for habitat 9430 (HIC) improvement and conservation actions, the project team initiated a new round of meetings in early 2024 with additional municipalities and private forest owners to encourage their participation in the initiative.

These initial meetings served as a first point of contact to present proposed actions and exchange views on how to address the various pressures affecting the project’s target habitat.

As part of these collaborations with local authorities, the municipalities of Queralbs, Planoles, and Campelles offered to host an open session for local residents to learn about the project. The event took place at Casa de Núria in Queralbs and gathered around twenty participants who had the opportunity to hear directly about the specific actions planned in the Ripollès region and engage in discussion with biodiversity experts from the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), coordinators of the LIFE UNCINATA* project, the county forest officer from the Directorate General of Forests and Natural Environment Management (DACC), and the technical director of the Ripollès Nature Conservation Consortium (CEINR).

We would like to thank everyone who attended the information session, and especially the three municipalities for agreeing to participate in the project and making their forests available. Many thanks!
